France Part 1
So many firsts in France!
First time the van had left UK soil.
First time driving a right hand drive on the "wrong" side of the road.
First time using the shower in the van.
The list goes on...
As soon as we left the ferry we headed south towards a small town called Montreuil. This was a place we found on Park4Night that was quite close to the port of Calais, but more importantly was a free Aire, we wanted to ease ourselves into van life so played it safe to start with.
Things didn't go 100% as planned however, the first supermarket we had set the Sat Nav for was closed - we didn't realise that with it being 11/11 in France it was classed as a national holiday so some places were shut. Luckily for us (as we didn't take much fresh food with us) Aldi was open. But after this small hiccup everything went okay.
Field Marshal Haig.
The view from Rampart surrounding Montreuil.
Safety in numbers - our first Aire in Montreuil.
We spent a couple of nights in this small town, there was a large statue of Field Marshal Haig from WW1 that was nice to see, as well as some bike routes not far from the town that turned out to be a lot more muddy than we had planned for, meaning we had another first of the trip - washing the bikes!
Montreuil was our first and only stop in France. Due to some delays starting our trip we had to replan our route which meant leaving France and heading East into Belgium.
